On January 6, 2026, a new professional standard “Polygrapher” was approved in Ukraine, which establishes official requirements for qualifications, competencies and ethical standards for polygraph examination specialists.

The main developer of the standard for the profession “Polygrapher” was the Scientific and Methodological Center for Personnel Policy of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The working group for the creation of the Standard for the profession “Polygraphist” included representatives of 14 bodies and organizations, including the All-Ukrainian Association of Polygraph Examiners (AUP).
The decision to approve the standard is an important step for the development of the polygraph examiner profession in Ukraine. It defines what knowledge, skills and professional behavior should be inherent in specialists working with polygraphs, and is aimed at improving the quality of services, transparency of procedures and professional level of specialists.
The approval of the professional standard will also contribute to the harmonization of the national qualification system with international practices and will allow for more clearly regulating the training, assessment and development of specialists in this field.
